Fall 2018 President's Newsletter

Members,

We are having another productive year at the Western Michigan CPCU Society.  This spring we had an interesting session on ethics.  We did an exercise with everyone in attendance on ethical issues in insurance and life.  We also visited Farmers University on the Farmers campus where they train claims professionals on homeowner, mobile home and vehicle damage claims.  The facility was impressive and the information presented brought you into the world of a claims adjuster.

In June Beau held the annual golf outing which is our main fundraiser for our scholarship fund.  We had 8 teams; roughly 32 participants with another 2-3 attending, so about 35 people total.  The outing generated near $1,200 and we have around $1,600 to provide in scholarships for the coming year.  This year we had 4 scholarship recipients for a total of $1,684.

In September we will have our first fall meeting which will be on Drones and technology in insurance.  October will be the induction of our new CPCU recipients.  We will be participating in a charity event in November.  I would like to thank all the people who put so much time and effort into this organization to make it function.  Without volunteers The CPCU Society of West Michigan would not exist.  If you would like to be a board member for next year or volunteer in any other capacity you can contact me, or any other board member.

Sincerely,

Paul Young, CPCU,  AIC-M,  AU-M, AINS, API

Western Michigan CPCU Chapter President
