President's 2017 Year End Newsletter

Fri, 12/08/2017 - 16:51

Greeting Chapter Members,

As the year comes to end, I hope everyone has enjoyed what 2017 has provided.  I have enjoyed acting as the President of our organization this year and hope you all have been able to gain valuable insight on topics in our business, as well as ways to improve your own personal and professional skills.  The board will continue to work hard to get some engaging and entertaining speakers in 2018.  We also encourage any members interested in getting involved, to speak with a board member to see what opportunities exist within our organization.

In this year, we have covered a variety of topics and focused on many goals of the Society to engage and maintain our members.  We have heard from industry leaders, experts in the field, and also partnered with local organizations to give back to the community.  We have seen The Institutes take more of an active role with the CPCU Society to ensure that our members are accessing and aware of the all the learning opportunities available to us, and also that we are meeting the requirements of being an active member.

Some notable items from 2017 included the growth of members within our Chapter to over 100 and successful fundraising that increased our available funds for our scholarship offering.  I look forward to continuing our success in 2018.  This will no doubt include engaging our members to learn more about current topics affecting insurance and risk management, creating value in the CPCU designation, and educating a new generation of potential business leaders.

Thank you to all that have helped to make this a successful year.  I hope to see you all as we begin again in January. As you all know, our organization allows us an avenue to network, stay current with issues in our business, be active in our community, and an opportunity to gain leadership experience.  Please make the most of these opportunities and always keep learning!

Note that we will continue to have our monthly Luncheons at Firerock Grill on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.  Our next luncheon is Tuesday January 16th.  Our hope is to have events and speakers confirmed for the year very soon, so please review the approaching calendar on our web page to see additional topics and events that may interest you.

Thank you and I hope you all enjoy the coming holidays.

Respectfully,

Beau Barnum CPCU, ASLI

Western Michigan CPCU Chapter President
