President's January 2016 Newsletter

Monday, January 18, 2016 - 11:22

Greetings Members of the West MI CPCU Chapter:

Happy New Year!

As we reflect back on 2015 and look forward to 2016, I would encourage us all to do it with the thought of what CPCU means to you. By doing so, we can establish what CPCU has meant for us in the past and how we can shape it to be even more meaningful in the immediate future, 2016.

President's Fall 2015 Newsletter

Tuesday, October 20, 2015 - 08:28

Oct., 2015

Dear Colleagues:

Last week I attended the CPCU Society Annual Conference on your behalf in Indianapolis. (Next year’s is in Hawaii….What was I thinking, right?).   While in attendance, I attended sessions on Agents E & O, The Evidence Pit Stop,  Spying in the Skies- Drones, The Evolving Liabilities of Cyber, Ethical Decision Making, as well as network meetings, general sessions, and much more. It had been over 20 years since my last attendance at a CPCU Conference, and while much has changed over the years, some things remain the same.

Spring News Letter:

Agent or Broker…That’s the question.

As I reflected on Tom TerMaats (March luncheon speaker) comments on ethics, and as I prepared to talk about an agents perspective of changing market trends at our luncheon this month, there was one thing that became very clear….the fine line between Agency law and Broker law has become very blurred in Michigan.
